"Tangerine"

"Tangerine is a "Doitsu Orenji Ogon." Tangerine does not have scales all over his body. Instead, he only has a single row of scales on either side of his dorsal ridge, and a single row of scales down each lateral line. The rest of the skin is smooth. This pattern of scales was created by cross-breeding German carp with Japanese koi. It is called "Doitsu" which is the Japanese word for German (or Deutsch.) "Tangerine" got his name from is bright orange color.
